ZAMBIA TO START US$152,381 ROAD REHABILITATION

Zambia soon to begin a US$152,381 road rehabilitation.

Zambia is planning to embark on a US$152,381 peri-urban road rehabilitation project. This is coming just after the conclusion of a road survey by the Luanshya Municipal Council (LMC) engineering department.

The aim of the rehabilitation is to open up new areas for agriculture activities using locally generated resources.

According to Luanshya Mayor, Nathan Chanda, the project for grading and graveling feeder roads are important not only to farmers but also in improving the movement of goods to and from the market.

The road rehabilitation project will start from Kitwe turn off to Luanshya civic center. There will also be construction of 45km Fisenge-Masangano road in Luanshya.

China Henan will handle the township road project.

The mayor asked the business community to partner with the council in order to help with logistics. He said they can help with activities such as contributing fuel for the earth moving equipment.

According to Zambia’s minister for housing and infrastructure development, Ronald Chitolela, the town have already undergone a 60.8km road make over. He added that there will also be  an additional 50km of road rehabilitation.
